About The Role
The role of a Re-Entry Peer Specialist is crucial in assisting individuals through the
multifaceted re-entry process. This journey involves complex stages as individuals
re-integrate into their communities. You’ll play a pivotal role in providing guidance, support,
and resources to facilitate a successful re-entry process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Release Support: Collaborate with returning citizens to plan their re- entry,
including participating in educational programs, counseling, and outlining
community integration strategies.
2. Immediate Re-Entry Assistance: Offer essential support during the initial
weeks or months post-release, aiding in finding housing, employment, and
securing necessities.
3. Intermediate Stage Guidance: Provide ongoing support to establish stability
within the community, assisting in finding stable housing,
employment, healthcare, and social services, and fostering healthy positive
relationships.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Empathy, understanding, and non-judgmental approach towards returning
citizens transitioning back into the community.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and
establish trust.
• Familiarity with social services, housing resources, and employment
opportunities.
